Warm Handoff

Schuylkill County Drug and Alcohol Programs has contracted with COGI to be the service provider for their county-based Warm Handoff Program.   Through this program, county based hospitals and emergency rooms can make a referral to the Warm Handoff to assist a patient obtain substance abuse treatment.   These individuals are generally being treated in the hospital as a result of an overdose or complications associated with substance abuse issues that put them at risk for an overdose.   COGI Staff provide 24 hour on-call coverage of the Warm Handoff phone and assist the hospitals with getting patients transitioned from the hospital directly into a detox or rehab facility.   This service is offered via Lehigh Valley Medical Center – Schuylkill Campus, Pottsville; Geisinger / St. Luke’s,  Orwigsburg; and St. Lukes Miners Memorial Hospital, Coaldale.
